One of the more unique applications for EPS (expanded polystyrene) is the production of meandering drain forms for the type of drains found in splash parks. There are off the shelf metal forms for circles and ovals but the larger meandering drains require customer forms. At Universal Foam Products we have been providing these forms all over the country for the past several years, shipping from locations also in various parts of the country. The forms, which typically taper from top to bottom and also vary in depth to provide drainage, are produced on a CNC wire cutter or router. A single drain system can consist of many dozens of unique pieces so each piece is labeled and a drawing is provided showing where they are to be placed. The top part of each form is plywood which overhangs the EPS form on both sides creating the ledge where the drain grate will rest and also providing a durable surface where the drain forms can be secured from overhead prior to installing the concrete.
