Styrofoam for set designers »

Sculptors and set designers love using EPS to create rock formations and boulders. This creation was created by the Barter Theater in Abingdon, VA for a production of The Hound of the Baskervilles. You can see the stages of production. Rock formation like this can be found in theaters, amusement parks and swimming pool grottos throughout the United States. For this production, the set designer purchased 24 sheets of 1 lb density EPS 6” x 48” x 96”. EPS blocks are available up to 24’ long in densities from just under 1 lb to 3 lb per cubic foot and ship from over 60 locations nationwide.

EPS Rock Formations »

Rock Solid was the theme of the conference, so they needed some boulders! Having used Universal Foam Products for the past 4 years for all of their creative sculpting needs, they purchased 3 pieces of 1 lb density EPS 12” x 48” x 72” and used a hot knife and sculpting tool to do the carving. To give it dimension they hot glued chunks together. The eps foam rock formation turned out so well that, at the conference, they were asked do a seminar next year on sculpting with foam.

EPS blocks are used to create rock formations for everything from gardens to grottos. The carved blocks can be coated with a variety of different materials to produce realistic surfaces that are light weight and extremely durable. Let Universal assist in your next landscaping project.

Stone Table from EPS »

2 blocks of .9 lb Virgin EPS – 40” x 48” x 96” EPS were used to carve this stone table for a patio in Hortonville, WI 54944. After the table was sculpted, the artist the coated it with ___ making it extremely durable and able to weather the harsh Wisconsin winter weather. The finished table has both the look and feel of real stone

EPS Foam were used to sculpt caves & walls »

EPS foam blocks and sheets of 1 lb Virgin EPS 48” x 96” in thicknesses from 4” to 24” were used to sculpt caves & walls set representing an area in Jerusalem. New Hope Church in Bend, Oregon hosts a community Easter celebration event called the Stations of the Cross. It’s a way for people who can’t make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem for Passover and Easter to be able to visually follow in Jesus’ footsteps. A lot of Christian churches are sponsoring their own events in the last few years as a tool for helping people experience the message of the Easter season. 1 lb EPS and some very creative people are an economical way to achieve realistic looking scenery and props for theater productions, architectural features and sculptures.
